Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

A laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is performed to remove the uterus. During the surgery, a small incision is made in the belly button and a small camera is inserted into the body. This camera allows surgeons to perform this procedure as he/she watches on a TV screen. Two or three other small incisions will be made in the lower abdomen, but that should be the extent to number of surgical scars that you have to deal with. There are many benefits to performing a hysterectomy with the use of laparoscopes. For one, with smaller incisions, your body will be able to recover much faster and you will not have large, unsightly surgical scars. Pain and hemorrhaging will also be less significant with this procedure.  Most patients who are having a hysterectomy to treat abnormal uterine bleeding or fibroids can have a laparoscopic hysterectomy.
