Bone Density Test

A bone density test is used to determine if you have osteoporosis, the disorder in which a person has fragile bones that are more likely to break or fracture. Bone density tests work to calculate the risk of bone breaks, so that osteoporosis can be diagnosed before you break a bone.

The higher a person’s calcium and bone mineral content are, the more likely she or he will have dense, strong bones. Unlike bone scans, this test does not require any injections before an X-ray is taken. Additionally, bone scans usually only detect issues in the bone. Osteoporosis is more commonly found in women, unfortunately, which is why VIVA! GYN provides bone density tests to women who live in the central Oregon area.

Schedule your Bone Density Test in Central Oregon

We provide bone density testing at our clinic in Bend, Oregon, so there is no need to go to the hospital. During this test, Dr. Palacio will take X-rays to measure the amount of calcium and other minerals packed into a section of bone. The most common areas that he will inspect are the hip, spine and forearm, as they are more likely to experience issues. A bone density test is easy, fast and painless; there is no preparation needed on your part.
